Computer Application/Technology Class Curriculum

Computer Application/Technology Class Curriculum

Mr. Bill Robinette

In order for students to be successful adults in an expanding Information Age, it is critical that all students develop the necessary knowledge and skills for using computer technology. St. Athanasius School K – 8 Computer Technology Curriculum provides students with opportunities for acquiring these necessary knowledge and skills, by adopting a curriculum scope and sequence endorsed by the Archdiocese. It includes the areas of: Keyboarding, Basic Computer Concepts and Operations, Communication, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Research, and Social, Ethical, and Legal Issues. These elements are introduced and integrated with subject area curricula and classroom instruction.

The program provides a learning continuum for students, which initially develops students’ basic skills for using computer technology, while providing ongoing opportunities for students to apply their learning in more sophisticated applications and student directed projects.

Instructional practices may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Teacher-directed instruction
  2. Mini-lessons
  3. Guided practices
  4. Modeling
  5. Individualized instruction
  6. Cooperative learning activities
  7. Small-group instruction
  8. Exploration of concepts taught

  2. Projects
