Seventh Grade Curriculum

Students will continue to change classes on a regular basis to help with High School readiness. There is a continued focus on  skills, test preparation. Students are developing ownership in their own learning.  Technology is a focal point for learning in the 7th grade with one-to-one Chrome books. Students will continue to develop technology skills that will support their learning for years to come.

Topics Covered:

Social Studies Civilizations, Middle Ages, Renaissance, nations and empires, and the 20th century. Emphasis placed on Geography. Current events are included in Social Studies.

Science Cells, genetics, bacteria and viruses, protests and fungi, plants, animals, human biology and health, and ecology.

English Grammar, vocabulary and composition exercises.

Literature Journal, portfolio, stylistic writing, short story reading, poetry, novel reading, and literary interpretation.

Pre-Algebra Concepts of Algebra, Geometry, graphing, relations, functions, probability and statistics.

Special Events:

Field Trips
Cultural events such as plays
Special celebrations/classroom celebrations
Grading::
Based upon daily tests, quizzes, participation, portfolio assessments

Discipline Policy:

In order to maintain an appropriate Christian school environment, good behavior is expected and is to be followed by all Junior High students. Failure to meet the expectations will result in the accumulation of demerits. Rewards and disciplinary action will be dealt with according to the number of demerits accumulated in any given trimester. After six demerits, detentions are given.

The students are given special rewards for those that demonstrate good behavior.
