Greetings! We would like to extend an invitation for your family to participate in St. Athanasius’ Parish Religious Education (PREP) Program (aka ERE or CCD). The program provides religious formation and education for children in grades K-8 who are not enrolled in a Catholic school. The program is designed to teach the children prayers and give a firm foundation in Scripture and Catholic faith traditions including sacramental preparation.
PREP will begin on Tuesday, August 22nd Classes meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Fill out the attached Registration Form (one form per child), and return the completed form in a sealed envelope marked “St. A – PREP” to the Parish Center or drop it into the Sunday collection basket or email it back to me.
Families participating in PREP are asked to attend the opening session on August 22nd together. We will begin our PREP sessions with prayer and activity. Our opening Family Mass will be Tuesday, September 5th at 6:30.
We always need extra help in K/1 through 4th grade. I would appreciate having adult and youth volunteers sign up to be in the classroom to assist the catechists. Volunteers 18 years and older do need to attend one of the SAFE environment in person training sessions that are offered by the Archdiocese or if you have had the training but it has been 5 years or longer, you must take an additional training that is available online. I will go over this at our parent meeting on the 22nd. If you have questions call the Parish Center at 969-3332.

Finally, a note on sports, I realize children are going to be in sports and sometimes that will conflict with our Tuesday evening PREP. If this happens, please talk to me and your child’s catechist. Religious Formation is taken very seriously by both the PREP and St. Athanasius Athletics. We want you to have the best experience of both.
